The day has been a continual struggle with the weather, rain over night cleared by 7am so we were hopeful of a good session following on from our record breaking day yesterday. Alas, the wind was strong and the rain returned by lunchtime ending our day. Having battled on with the weather we still managed 88 new birds including an impressive 21 Bluethroats whilst another Sedge Warbler was a welcomes addition to the tally.
This picture was taken today on the way back from the wine shop. Annoyingly the White Tailed Eagle flew off just as I was about to take a picture of it sitting on a big rock. As it left it was pursued by a pair of Hooded Crow.
The breakdown can be seen below and without any doubt the Common Redpoll is in pole position from all other birds caught since we arrived.
