Day 8 in the Pasvik Valley, Arctic Norway

It is Day 8 today and we caught 335 new birds over 17 species at our site along the Pasvik Valley. Again we had another Great Grey Shrike but the new species for the day was a handsome male Lapland Bunting. Other birds worthy of note were a spotted Flycatcher, Brambling and a further 4 new Little Buntings.
The Willow Warblers are still dropping in and we caught over a thousand since we arrived. I will post a full list at the end of our trip.
We finished early today because we are off to a restaurant this evening for dinner. I have pre-ordered Pike fish cakes since they come recommended and I have not eaten them before. It will make a pleasant change from having to cook for themselves.

This juvenile Spotted Flycatcher was the first up to now

There are one or two Brambling turing up at the moment. We have found an area in the forest where they seem to be hanging out.

This is the first Lapland Bunting we have caught, a very handsome male bird. Last year at Nesseby the numbers were good, however it was encouraging to catch our first bird and hope others will follow.
