Willow Warblers still on migration

It was 26 degrees centigrade today and the continued heat, the biting all the time from mosquito's and midges that are prolific and long days have made us all very tired. We decided then to finish at about 1.00pm after a 04.30am start and spend some time with our friends from Holland and the UK who we first met a couple of years ago in Nesseby on the north coast of the Varanger Fjord.

We managed to catch and process 281 birds with no new species. The Willow Warbler migration is still producing the bulk of our daily figures and probably will do so for the remaining week of our holiday this year.

We had one nice surprise today when the Moose and Calf walked across part of the river near to our ringing site base camp. Picture taken by Paul Ashworth.

Internet is still a problem and I have to make a car journey now before I can get "on line"
